In Fairbanks, near the downtown area, is Fairbanks Museum and Planetarium, which has a weather station on the property.

The Fairbanks Museum and Planetarium is located on Main Street. From U.S. Route 2, turn south onto Railroad Street for a short distance, then turn right onto Eastern Avenue and drive uphill for 4 blocks, then turn right onto Main Street and drive a short distance to the museum on the right.

The weather impoundment is located behind the building. It is visible from Charles Street that runs next to the museum. To get a closer look, you should pay the modest admission fee to the museum where you can go through the building and onto the grounds.

The pen has a fence roughly 20 ft on a side. I could see a Hazen shed, which usually has a thermometer. Also, there are rain gauges, and a pole that I assume is a transmitter.

Indirectly, I have determined that this is the National Weather Service Station St. Johnsbury-Fairbanks (K1V4) via Wikimapia.

The museum has three meteorologists as steff. They make the observations, which have been made every day since 1894. From the web sits: "Data still kept at the Museum such as maximum and minimum temperatures, precipitation, relative humidity, wind direction and speed, barometric pressure and general character of the day represent the longest continuous record of weather at the same location in Vermont."
