Der Poppelsdorfer Friedhof erstreckt sich vom Süden Poppelsdorfs aus den Nordhang des Kreuzberg hinauf bis zur Kreuzbergkirche. Der Kreuzberg ist ein Nebengipfel des Venusbergs. Bei der Anlage des Friedhofs 1798 lag er tatsächlich in Poppelsdorf am Fuße des Kreuzbergs. Durch zahlreiche Erweiterungen wuchs er aber im Laufe der Jahrhunderte immer weiter den Hang hinauf.

Die Kapelle befindet sich im neuesten Teil des Friedhofs westlich des Stationswegs. Dieser Teil wurde 1897 bis 1898 angelegt, 1928 wurde die Kapelle errichtet. Hier können bei Trauerfeiern Angehörige Abschied von ihren Verstorbenen nehmen.
The cemetery of Poppelsdorf extends from the South of Poppelsdorf the Northern flank of the mountain Kreuzberg up to the church Kreuzbergkirche. Kreuzberg is a sub-summit of the mountain Venusberg. When the cemetery was planned in 1798, it actually was in Poppelsdorf at the base of the Kreuzberg. But over the centuries, it grew more and more up the flank.

The chapel is located in the newest part of the cemetery west of the Stationsweg. This part was built between 1897 and 1898, and the chapel was built in 1928. Here, relatives can take leave of their deceased at mourning celebrations.
