The brochure is titled "Great Road, Lincoln, RI, and is available at one of the Blackstone River Valley NHC Visitor Centers in RI and MA. The Great Road was one of the earliest roads built in America - constructed in the 1660s and parts followed even older Native American Indian trails. Other buildings and sites noted in the brochure include the Moffet Mill, a blacksmith shop, and several houses, still standing.
According to the brochure:
"Mt. Moriah Lodge #8 (c.1800/1804) 1093 Great Road
"The first structure on this site was a one-room schoolhouse, built c. 1800. In 1804, 23 local Masons received permission to establish a new Lodge. They expanded the building to its present size, meeting on the second story, while the fist floor continued to be used as a school until 1870. The Masons then took title to the entire building. The Lodge still holds its meetings there."
