The Hütt-Brauerei Bettenhäuser GmbH & Co. KG in Baunatal is the only medium-sized private brewery in the Kassel region. The Hütt Brewery has been family-owned for nine generations; Since 1752 beer is brewed at the Knallhütte.
Sales in 2008 were approximately eight million euros. This was generated by 42 permanent employees. 67,500 hectoliters of beer were brewed, 30% of which were sold as draft beer. In addition, 8,500 hectoliters of alcohol-free beverages were produced.
Nationwide attention was given to the name of the Hütt brewery by the blockade of the Castor transport of 8 November 2010 by means of an old truck converted by Greenpeace with still existing inscription from the brewery.
