Yakushima is the fifth largest island of the Japanese mainland (excluding Okinawa) after Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu, and Shikoku. It is famous for heritage cedar trees, including the 3,000 year old Yayoi-sugi located in Shiratani Unsuikyo, a beautiful canyon area on the northern part of the island. The most notable wildlife here are monkeys and deers. There are beautiful waterfalls located all over the island.

Yakushima is part of Kyushu Prefecture and has its tallest peak, Miyanoura-dake (1935 meters).

Coordinates will take you to an interesting location within Shiratani Unsuikyo which inspired a famous Japanese animation movie. Optional logging requirement is to mention what it is.
