On August 3, 1492, his three ships, the Pinta, the Niña and the Santa María, leave Palos de la Frontera, a port of Andalusia, in southern Spain. After a stop in the Canary Islands, they take the sea to the west on September 9th.

36 days later, on 12 October 1492, they landed on land unknown to the Europeans. Christopher Columbus thinks he is in Asia. In fact, he landed on an island in the Bahamas off the coast of Florida, in the southern United States of America.

He then discovers the island of Cuba, then the island of Haiti.

6 months later, Christopher Columbus returns to Spain. He tells of his discoveries and becomes a hero. He will even be ennobled. On several occasions, Christopher Columbus returned the voyage, discovering each time new lands: Guadeloupe, Puerto Rico, the American coast, and so on.
