Rudolstadt festival is a four day festival in the old city of Rudolstadt on several staged with bands and performers from all around the world.

1955 the „1. fest of the german folk dance“ was held in Rudolstadt. It aimed to root socialism in folk and also promote german unity which at that point still was a political goal. Finally German culture should be promoted against „american unculture“, as well as Rock’n’Roll and Jazz. Rudolstadt was a good place for the festival due to it's central location in Germany and it's nice old city with a castle that had not been damaged in the war.
TFF after 1990
The first festival 1991 had become a whole different thing. It aimed for mostly alternative folk music. The dance and folk fest became a fusion that now realised the idea of a united germany and unity with other countries. More than 90 bands and performers from 22 countries came to this first fest.
Around 100,000 people visit the festival.
Day tickets are available from abour 24-36 Euro, a festival pass for all days and all stages costs about 80 Euro.
