On the Siedenfelder Weg in Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg stands an old transformer station of the former HEW (Hamburgische Electricitäts-Werke AG). This building was taken over by the BUND (German Federation for the Environment and Nature Conservation) in 1996 and the building became a shelter for wild animals, mainly birds (for example, swallows, common swifts and sparrows) and bats. An insect hotel was built on the east side.
