This unusual speed limit sign is situated on the road that leads to the dam and reservoir that are dramatically sited beneath the mountain range of Ben Cruachan.

The hydro-electric Cruachan Power Station is sited underground at probably around the area of this sign.

The access road to the dam and reservoir is closed to public traffic but can be walked. It begins just off the A85 road near Lochawe village and carries on snaking its way westwards up the hillside above Loch Awe. After three miles it reaches the dam and it is within a few hundred yards of this that this sign appears, seemingly only for traffic heading down from the dam as it is in this direction that it is displayed.

The sign can be reached quicker from the path that snakes steeply up the side of the Falls of Cruachan from the roadside near the power station's visitor centre.
