The coin shows the castle of Schwerin built in 1845-1857, today the seat of the Landtag, and the inscription MECKLENBURG-VORPOMMERN. Underneath this is the signet HH of the designer Heinz Hoyer. The mint is above the castle. BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND is arranged in a semicircle in the lower part of the outer ring in which the year is at the top and thus divides the twelve stars of the European Union into two groups, each with six stars.
