Medium Tank T-34/76 (visit link) tank based on BT (bystrochodnyj) was introduced into the Red Army armament in 1940. In the summer of 1941, when Germany invaded the Soviet Union, the Red Army already had 1 200. Although T-34 was relatively simple and roughly shaped, yet it was very effective in combat. His wide tracks guaranteed good throughput even in muddy terrain. It was equipped with a powerful and reliable diesel engine and high-quality gun. Obligue armor ensured good protectíon of the machine and even to the crew. Sínce January 1944, the Guard units were equipped with modernized version with a more effective 85 mm gun and larger towers for the three men under the name T-34/85. The Czechoslovak Independent Armored Brigade in the USSR was armed with the T-34 tank sas well, in the number of66 tanks (as of March 10, 1945 at the start of operations in Ostrava). Until the end of the war in the USSR, mainly in factories evacuated to the Urals, there were produced up to 40 000 of these tanks. The production of tanks involved mostly women working in 14 hour shifts. On the Eastern Front there was no exception purely female lead crew of the T-34. After the World War II, the production continued in other States until 1964, when next 10 000 pieces of these tanks were produced. In Czechoslovak, the first licensed production took place in Škoda Plzen and then at the Stalin plant in Martin. The highest number of T-34 tanks in the Czechoslovak army was in 1956, 1,701 pieces was in service then. Part of the "thirty-trees" was kept as a stored technology of the CSLA until the early nineties, when began to be scrapped.

The vehicle comes from USSR production - No. 183 Niznij Tagil plant(rounded bow). The tower comes from the Soviet production spring 1945 as well -No. 112 Sormová plant in Gorky.


This tank is located in the Museum on the Demarcation line in Rokycany. The Museum on the Demarcation Line in Rokycany is the biggest non-state museum in the Czech Republic. Its founder and operator is the Czech Army Land Forces Foundation. It is focused on vehicles and combat equipment, outfit and armament of the Czechoslovakian army till 1938, the Anti-Hitler coalition and the German armed forces of the last days of the 2nd world war on the Demarcation line added by the outfit and armament of the Czechoslovakian people´s army.
