EN: The war memorial in Murg was created in 1938 by the sculptor Hugo Knittel. The 20-ton monument shows two larger than life soldiers in uniform. One carries a gun, the other a hand grenade. In the base, it had a list engraved of the fallen and missing citizens of the city. After 1945, the list was extended to the victims of the Second World War.

The monument originally stood between the school and the town hall. As part of a redesign of the school area, it was transferred to the school's backyard in 2014. This action was very controversial. One side argued that one owed it to the war victims that the monument would remain on its old, more prominent location. Others see the sculpture as an antiquated war glorification, which does not belong to a public place anymore in this form.

Einer trägt ein Gewehr, der andere eine Handgranate. Im Sockel waren die gefallenen und vermissten Bürger der Stadt aufgeführt. Nach 1945 wurde die Liste um die Opfer des 2. Weltkrieges erweitert.

Das Denkmal stand zwischen der Schule und dem Rathaus. Im Rahmen einer Neugestaltung des Schulgeändes wurde es 2014 auf den Hinterhof der Schule versetzt. Diese Aktion wurde äusserst kontrovers diskutiert. Eine Seite argumentierte, dass man es den Kriegsopfern schuldig sei, dass das Denkmal auf seinem alten, prominenteren Platz bleibe. Andere sehen in der Skulptur eine nicht mehr zeitgemässe Kriegsverherrlichung, die in dieser Form überhaupt nicht mehr auf einen öffentlichen Platz gehöre.
