[EN] The Rocher du Diamant is located at the sea south of the peninsula of Trois-Îlets, 2 km off the Morne Larcher. It is strictly forbidden to land on the Diamond Rock.
The Diamond Rock is an island of 300m in diameter and 176m high. The islet owes its name to the reflections of its walls at certain hours of the day, which evoke those of the precious stone.
This edifice corresponds to the internal part of a lava dome whose shell has been cleared by erosion.
At the beginning of the 19th century, the war raging in the West Indies between France and England, which tried to secure the
Control of this insular arc, the British took up a position on the islet, and armed it with cannon. A garrison of several tens of men was kept there to harass the French navy.
This place is the subject of a decree of protection of the biotope and is since 1994, property of the conservatory of the littoral.

Le Rocher du Diamant est un îlot de 300m de diamètre et 176m de haut. L’îlot doit son nom aux reflets de ses parois à certaines heures du jour, qui évoquent ceux de la pierre précieuse.

contrôle de cet arc insulaire, les Britanniques prirent position sur l'îlot, et le firent armer de canons. Une garnison de plusieurs dizaines d'hommes y était maintenue pour harceler la marine française.
Ce lieu fait l’objet d’un arrêté de protection du biotope et est depuis 1994, la propriété du conservatoire du littoral.
