The Minervabrunnen, now also known as Fischmarktbrunnen, is a Baroque fountain made of sandstone in Hamburg-Altona.

Since 1719 a fountain made of wood was standing on the Altona fish market. Since this material did not prove permanent, it had to be replaced soon. In 1722 the "Brunnengesellschaft von 1722" was founded, which commissioned a sculptor with the design of a well of sandstone. The well, built in 1742, had a fountain-box decorated with reliefs. They showed cupid and psyche between flower arrangements among two dolphins. Minerva, the goddess of wisdom, arts, and craftsmanship, represented the real figure of the well.

For 122 years, the well remained at its original location. In the course of the expansion of the fish market, he had to leave a horse-drawn carriage station and was transferred to the courtyard of the orphanage on the Königstraße in 1864. The next change took place during the First World War. The well was now divided. The Minervafigur, which had already been damaged at this time, was placed in the basement of the Old Town Hall, the well basin in the Holy Spirit Chapel. In 1929, the basin was erected on the mint market without the fountain figure. In 1942 it was dismantled and stored in the camp of the civil engineering department. It was reopened only 20 years later, this time in the green areas on Billrothstraße.

In 1989 Hans Kock replaced the severely damaged old Minervafigur with a new one. After the fish market had been renovated, the well was moved again. It is now located in the northern part of the market square, where it was originally built.
