According to the National Geodetic Survey, the three-legged structural steel tower is 282 feet tall. The tower is on a hill overlooking the east side of the Tongass Narrows, near Stedman Street.

KTKN-AM is owned and operated by Alaska Broadcast Communications, broadcasting talk radio and adult contemporary music on 930 kHz.

Two FM radio stations also broadcast from this tower. KRBD-FM is a PBS affiliate. KGTW-FM, sister station of KTKN, broadcasts in the country music format.
