EN: The television tower on St. Chrischona was built in 1980-84 east of Bettingen. With a hight of 250 meters it is the highest freestanding structure of Switzerland and a well-known landmark of the area.
The tower is operated by Swisscom. The tall three-legged structure contains transmitters for several radio and television programs from Switzerland and Germany.

The analog television stations SF 1, SF zwei and TSR 1 were disconnected in 2007.
In addition, the tower is also used as a transmitter for the police radio of the canton of Basel-Landschaft and commercial inland navigation radio services of the Upper Rhine area. It also contains phone transference transmitters and meteorological measurement instruments.
Furthermore, the tower also contains two water tanks with a capacity of 100 m3 each for the water supply of Bettingen. The tanks are in a height of 103 meters in an northern appendix to the tower that looks like a "backpack". The weight of the water had to be considered during construction, so the tower stood inclined to the south before the tanks were filled.
DE: Der Fernsehturm wurde 1980-84 auf der Hügelspitze St. Chrischona östlich von Bettingen gebaut. Mit einer Höhe von 250 Metern ist es die höchste freistehende Bauwerk der Schweiz und ein bekanntes Wahrzeichen der Gegend.
Der Turm wird von Swisscom betrieben. Die hohe dreibeinige Struktur enthält Sender für mehrere Rundfunk- und Fernsehprogramme aus der Schweiz und Deutschland.

Die analogen Fernsehsender SF 1, SF zwei und TSR 1 wurden 2007 abgeschaltet.
Darüber hinaus wird der Turm auch als Sender für den Sprechfunk der Kantonspolizei Basel-Landschaft und den intermationalen Rheinfunk für die Binnenschiffahrt am Ober- und Hochrhein genutzt. Es enthält auch Telefonübertragungssender und meteorologische Messinstrumente.
Zusätzlich enthält der Turm auch zwei Wassertanks mit einer Kapazität von je 100 m3 für die Wasserversorgung von Bettingen. Die Tanks befinden sich in einer Höhe von 103 Metern in einem nördlichen Anbau zum Turm, der wie ein Rucksack aussieht. Das Gewicht des Wassers musste während des Baus berücksichtigt werden, so dass der Turm nach Süden geneigt stand, bevor die Tanks gefüllt waren.
