The so-called 'Fernsehturm' (Television Tower) of Stuttgart, Germany, Baden-Württemberg. It was built and used for television and fm broadcasts and is still used for fm transmissions.
The tower is listed in the German list of 'Historische Wahrzeichen der Ingenieurbaukunst' since 2009.
The television tower has been built in 1954/55. It was planed by Fritz Leonhardt, a pioneer of huge concrete constructions.
The tower was the first television tower of its kind. It's the mother of all television towers made of concrete and steel.
The height of the tower is 216.61 m (710.7 ft).
It became the symbol and landmark of the city of Stuttgart. The tower has a public visitor plattform in a height of 150m.
Wikipedia knows about the broadcasts: 'The tower is still known as Fernsehturm but today only broadcasts several public FM radio stations. Transmission of the ARD TV network's analogue service stopped in 2006. The digital television services have moved to nearby Fernmeldeturm Stuttgart, which also broadcasts private FM radio stations in the area.' [source: (
