More than 28 floors above street level, the base of the radio antenna rests on The Carlisle, the building at 440 Laurier Avenue West. The building is on the southeast corner of Laurier and Lyon.

The radio antenna transmits the signal for CJWL-FM. The JeWeL radio station broadcasts adult contemporary music in stereo on the frequency of 98.5 MHz.

"The Jewel 98.5 FM" launched operations in early 2006. The studio is at 127 York Street. It is a Class A station with the limitations of low power and reduced line-of-sight broadcast distance. The major players in the Ottawa-Gatineau market use radio towers located far from the downtown core.

For photography, I recommend the west side of Lyon at Slater. Photographs reveal that the tower mast is being used for more than just FM radio.
