[EN] 400 years ago, Shakespeare left the world scene. Pas-de-Calais celebrates this anniversary in its own way with the opening of the Elizabethan theater, inaugurated on 24, 25 and 26 June, the first of its kind in France.
The building is influenced by the Proto-Shakespearian theaters flourishing in England since the sixteenth century when the public is at 260 ° around the stage, offering new scenographic possibilities to the directors.
A nod to history, the first (and only) proto-Shakespearian theater in France had been set up 30 km away by Henry VIII, to embellish the camp of the Drap d'or.
Built by British architect Andrew Todd, the new building offers a circular ecological structure made of solid wooden panels 10 centimeters thick assembled together.
Ventilated naturally, the theater will just need a little heating during the winter.
[FR] Il y a 400 ans, Shakespeare quittait la scène du monde. Le Pas-de-Calais célèbre cet anniversaire à sa façon avec l'ouverture du théâtre élisabéthain, inauguré le 24, 25 et 26 juin, le premier du genre en France.
Le bâtiment est influencé par les salles proto-shakespeariennes fleurissant en Angleterre depuis le XVIe siècle où le public se dispose à 260° autour de la scène, offrant de nouvelles possibilités scénographiques aux metteurs en scène.
Clin d’œil de l’histoire, le premier (et le seul) théâtre proto-shakespearien en France avait été installé à 30 km de là par Henri VIII, pour agrémenter le camp du Drap d’or.
Construit par l’architecte britannique Andrew Todd, le nouveau bâtiment propose une structure circulaire écologique faite de panneaux de bois massifs de 10 centimètres d’épaisseur assemblés ensemble.
Ventilé naturellement, le théâtre aura juste besoin d’un peu de chauffage pendant l’hiver.
