Text taken and translated from: (visit link) "Jean-Bernard Métais's monumental work reinforces the cultural vocation of this space located at the back of the Museum of Tessé.
In June 2009, a giant hourglass, a huge glass and transparent cube made of sculptor Jean-Bernard Meté, was found in the heart of the Jardin de Tessé basin in Le Mans, on a pavement that seems to float in The surface of the water. It is a second life for "Time Offset Eclipse", first installed at the Jardin des Plantes in Paris, near the National Museum of Natural History, on the occasion of the eclipse of the summer of 1999. Le Mans, In competition with other major European cities, had been able to acquire it after a little more than two years of exposure. The 40 tons of sand flow from a height of three meters via 160 openings operated independently by computer. This sand, white and extremely fine, has gone up every six months, at the time of the solstices. "
