Between 1951 and 1953, 85 soldiers of the Luxembourgish army served in the Korean War.
To commemorate this service, a plaque was added to the National Monument of Remembrance, the "Gelle Fra" in the 2000s.

Je cite a l’ordre du jour de l’armée:
Nos quatre-vingt cinq compatriotes. Qui a l’appel du gouvernement se sont mis spontanément au service de la nation pour aller défendre le peuple coréen.
Du 31 Janvier 1951 au 27 Juillet 1953, ils ont mené dans des conditions de combat pénibles. De par la nature du terrains des conditions climatiques, une lutte acharnée contre un ennemi en surnombre, pour rétablir, dans le cadre de la mission des forces des Nations Unies en Corée. La paix et la sécurité internationale nos volontaires pour la Corée ont fait pendant cette période honneur a l’armée et a leur patrie.
