The over life-size bronze statue of Amadeus VI, Count of Savoy (Amedeo VI di Savoia) surnamed the Green Count (Italian: Il Conte Verde), who was Count of Savoy from 1343 to 1383 is located in Turin, Piazza Palazzo di Città, in front of the entrance into historical building of Turin's Town Hall. The statue is a work of Italian sculptor Pelagio Palagi. The statue was installed here in 1853. The statuary attached on about 2 meters high marble pedestal depicts Amadeus VI during so called Savoyard crusade led by Amadeus VI against the Ottoman Empire in eastern Europe. Wearing light cruisader military uniform - a hauberk (a shirt of mail), light armour and crown on his head, brandishing his sword with two defeated enemies (Turks) at his knees.

Amadeus VI (1334–1383), nicknamed the Green Count (in Italian - Il Conte Verde) was Count of Savoy from 1343 to 1383. He was the eldest son of Aymon, Count of Savoy and Yolande Palaeologo of Montferrat. Though he started under a regency, he showed himself to be a forceful leader, continuing Savoy's emergence as a power in Europe politically and militarily. He participated in a crusade against the Turks who were moving into Europe. In 1350 he founded short-lived chivalric order of the Black Swan which was defunct by 1364, when Amadeus founded the Order of the Collar in its stead. It is actually earliest designation of the Supreme Order of the Most Holy Annunciation ,a Roman Catholic order of knighthood, originating in medieval Italy. The order was dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, who is celebrated as "Our Lady of the Annunciation." Thus, the order is a dynastic religious (or Catholic) order of chivalry.
