[FR] Le 10 novembre 2011, à 19h00, le maire de la ville Philippe Briand, député à l'assemblée nationale a demandé à son ami Bernard Accoyer, président de cette institution citée si-dessus de se déplacer pour inaugurer l’œuvre réalisée par Michel Audiard, artiste de la région tourangelle.
Philippe Briand, le député-maire UMP de Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire, n'aime pas trop que l'on vienne marcher sur ses plates-bandes. L'édile de la troisième commune du département se réjouit pourtant d'avoir bientôt à accueillir sur ses terres un grand homme : le général Charles de Gaulle, dont la statue va être installée sur un des trois ronds-points du boulevard... Charles-de-Gaulle.
Il y a une quinzaine d'années, cette artère, qui est aussi une des grandes entrées de l'agglomération, s'appelait encore simplement l'avenue du Mans. « Il fallait donner un grand nom à ce boulevard économique saint-cyrien, quelque chose de fort. De Gaulle s'est tout naturellement imposé », explique Jean-Yves Couteau, premier adjoint.
L'élu, qui est aussi adjoint à la culture, avait proposé, il y a deux ans, d'installer une statue du général au niveau du rond-point de SKF. « L'homme d'État, celui qui a donné le suffrage universel aux Français, pas le militaire, nous en avons déjà une de lui dans le parc de la Perraudière, près de la mairie », justifie celui qui souhaite « que l'art soit aussi dans la rue ».
C'est dans cet esprit, en avril dernier, que la municipalité saint-cyrienne avait inauguré une sculpture cheval de 4,50 m de haut, perchée sur le giratoire du Maréchal-Leclerc, sur le boulevard De-Gaulle. Place, cette fois-ci, au général. Et si l'oeuvre de Stanko Kristic avait été facturée 45.000 €, celle de Michel Audiard, « un artiste du coin, de renommée mondiale », coûte le double. Mais c'est la réserve parlementaire de Bernard Accoyer, président de l'Assemblée nationale, qui en réglera la majeure partie : 90.000 €. Moindre dépense pour Saint-Cyr qui a déboursé 20.000 € pour l'aménagement du rond-point.

Philippe Briand accueillera son ami du Palais-Bourbon à 19 h, au pied de la statue en bronze vert de 2,40 m de haut, sur son promontoire d'ardoises. Une inauguration de nuit, mise en scène comme seule la commune la plus huppée de l'agglomération sait le faire, c'est-à-dire à grand spectacle, avec jeux de lumières, film, fanfare et cocktail offert à la population sur le parking de SKF. Et pour ceux qui connaissent bien le plus gaulliste des maires de l'agglomération, il y a fort à parier que ce soir-là il ne pourra pas s'empêcher de faire entendre la voix du général, une de ses meilleures imitations !
