Most of the information is contained in the website.

I was happy to talk with a lady who rented a plot in the garden. She told me a few interesting things.

The area of the garden used to be a vacant lot with weeds. The city tried to plant wildflowers there, but it eventually reverted back to weeds. Then they got a grant from the state and decided to start a community garden with it.

She told me that all sorts of people rent space there: singles, families, young and old. Some of the people lived right across the street from the garden in apartments. She lived a couple miles away and even had garden space in her yard, but she felt that the garden was such a good deal and a good idea that she had to be a part of it. She drives by it every day going to and from work and cab moniter it easily.

I love seeing gardens like this right in the center of town!
