Near the famous town Rüdesheim is the Niederwald-Memorial placed. The arial lift is build to connect these two tourist features. It has been opened in 1954 and replaced the cock railway which has been there before. You can either start at the memorial and take a ride down to the valley of the river Rhine or you can start in the town of Rüdesheim and ride up the hill.
