A well used, hand operated sharpening wheel features a wheel of sandstone which was the original material used by early European settlers. The sandstone has been worn down into a concave shape indicating it was probably used to grind & sharpen agricultural & home garden implements such as hoes. The country surrounding Berry is noted for its dairying & rich soils.
There is no information about the wheel but it has its original features such as the handle, cradle & guide to which the object being sharpened would be attached.
The Berry Museum has free admission but you can make a donation if you wish. It is open each Sunday between 11 am & 3 pm.
