Das Gebäude wurde 1911-1913 nach Plänen des Architekten und k.k.Baurates Josef Grünbeck und Stadtbaumeister Karl Bittmann im Jugendstil errichtet. Von Beginn an war darin die Sparkasse Hernals untergebracht. Die Eröffnung fand am 28.10.1913 vormittags statt. Nach zahlreichen Umorganisationen ist es heute eine Filiale der Bank Austria. Im gleichen Gebäude wurde 1966 das Bezirksmuseum Hernals untergebracht.

The building was built in 1911-1913 according to plans by the architect and imperial-royal building officer Josef Grünbeck and town master-builder Karl Bittmann. From the very beginning, the "Sparkasse" (Savings Bank) Hernals (17th district of Vienna) was accommodated. The opening took place on 10/28/1913 in the morning. After numerous reorganisations, it is today a branch of Bank Austria. The Hernals district museum was moved into the same building in 1966.
