This is a important hill for the history of Spain. The obelisk set up on the top of the hill is for the Battle of Arapil.

The monument on top of this hill is for the Battle of Arapiles. The Duke of Wellington defeated from this hill Marshal Auguste Marmont's French forces on 22 July 1812 who was on the other hill, which is less than 1 km away.

The Anglo-Portuguese army under the Duke of Wellington (visit link) defeated the French forces of Napoleon's empire.
