Die Statue ist ein Bildnis der Maria mit dem beiliegenden Wappen von Naumburg. Ursprünglich trug diese Marienstatue das Jesuskind, welches im Laufe der Jahre jedoch abhanden gekommen ist. Die Statue stand viele Jahre im Stadtmuseum von Naumburg und steht nun geschützt hinter einem Plexiglas am ursprünglichen Standort am äußeren Tor des Marientors.

The statue is a portrait of Mary with the enclosed coat of arms of Naumburg. Originally, this statue of the Virgin Mary carried the the Infant Jesus, which has been lost over the years. For many years the statue stood in the town museum of Naumburg and stands now protected behind a plexiglass at the original location at the outer gate of the Marientor.
The Marienstatue is from the year 1511. The only source for this year is an old postcard. Source: (
