"Carrying us in their basket
The figs, the rosy clusters,
The double and perfumed apricot,
They go, with an animated gesture,
Speaking a sound language
Where progress is not named,
But let our sun color,
That Dante was still speaking,
And that Mistral loved so much."
Jean François Victor Aicard (Toulon, 4 February 1848 – Paris, 13 May 1921) was a French poet, dramatist and novelist.
