The monument is on the western edge of Place René Goblet, facing rue des 3 Cailloux. The monument au Maréchal Leclerc in Amiens dates back to 1950. It was created by the famous sculptors, twin brothers Jean and Joël Martel (born 1896). Both Jean and Joël died in 1966.

The place names on the monument celebrate the military career of Philippe de Hauteclocque, dit Leclerc (1902-1947).
