A sua construção data dos princípios do séc. XVIII.
A capela tem dois corpos, sendo o segundo mais baixo, e sofreu obras de ampliação e restauro que modificaram o estilo original, em 1801.
O revestimento é constituído por 15.947 azulejos que cobrem cerca de 360 metros quadrados de parede. Os azulejos que revestem a capela são da autoria de Eduardo Leite e foram executados pela Fábrica de Cerâmica Viúva Lamego, em Lisboa. Datam de 1929 e representam os passos da vida de São Francisco de Assis e de Santa Catarina, que são venerados na capela.
Na fachada principal, destaque para o vitral que representa as almas, executado no século XIX, pelo pintor Amândio Silva.

"Capela dos princípios do século XVIII, com restauros e ampliações de 1801. É de uma grande simplicidade arquitectónica. Em 1929, as fachadas exteriores foram revestidas a azulejos da autoria de Eduardo Leite e produzidos na Fábrica de Cerâmica Viúva Lamego. Representam cenas da vida de São Francisco de Assis e de Santa Catarina. No interior, os altares são de estilo neoclássico, albergando a imagem de Nossa Senhora das Almas, datada do século XVII."

Its construction dates back to the beginning of the century. XVIII.
The chapel has two bodies, being the second lowest, and has undergone expansion and renovation that changed the original style in 1801.
The coating is composed of 15,947 tiles that cover about 360 square meters of wall. The tiles on the chapel are by Eduardo Leite and were executed by the widow Lamego Ceramic Factory in Lisbon. Dating back to 1929 and represent the steps of the life of St. Francis of Assisi and St. Catherine, who are venerated in the chapel.
The main facade, especially the stained glass window that represents the soul, performed in the nineteenth century by the painter Amândio Silva.

"This chapel dating from the early 18th century was restored and extended in 1801. In 1929 the outer façades were faced with tiles by Eduardo Leite, produced by Fábrica de Cerâmica Viúva Lamego. On the inside the altars are in the neoclassical style and they house an 18th century image of Our Lady of Souls."
