This artistic compass rose features bronze reliefs of the signs of the Zodiac, with their symbols, rendered in the heroic 1930s Art Deco style so prevalent on this architectural and engineering marvel.
The compass rose is located northeast of the Winged Victory Plaza, on the Nevada side of Hoover Dam, near the NV Intake tower.
Park in the parking garage and plan to spend 2-3 hours exploring here. There is so much to see!
If you decide to walk across the top of the dam, bring LOTS of bottled water, even in the winter. Remember that you are in a desert environment, and the water fountains at Hoover dam are frequently out of service from overuse. You will need to have water with you, even when the temperatures are mild. You will need at least 2 bottles of water if you plan to walk across the dam -- bring more in the spring or summer months.
