This well crafted sculpture was part of the 2014 Castlegar Sculpture Walk and received one of the Merit Awards. Zodiac Totem was created by talented artist Pokey Park from Tucson, Arizona.

This bronze sculpture stands about 8 feet and the attention to detail draws one in for a closer look and to discover each animal that is part of this magnificent sculpture. The top figure is a beautifully crafted Bull the symbol for Taurus The Bull is the second astrological sign in the Western Zodiac. A Taurus is born between April 21 until about May 21.

In the Eastern Zodiac the Ox is the second in the 12-year cycle of Chinese Zodiac sign. Years of the Ox include 1913, 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009, with 2021 being the next cycle.

The animals represent 4 of the 12 Zodiac years found in the Chinese and Japanese calendars replacing some with southwestern animals. The carp, lilypad and frog symbolizing water as necessary for life supports the animals.
