Ok, I know all the architect / bridge afficianados just stuck their collective noses in the air and huffed, "A Baltimore-Whipple Truss Bridge, Poppycock ! Theres no such thing !

Sorry folks, we here in Meadville have the only one !

The original bridge, built in 1871 by Penn Bridge Works needed some extra strength. So, in 1912, the Rogers Brothers of Albion, PA basically built a second bridge , surrounding the first. Additional Baltimore Trusses were added outside of the original Whipple Truss structure.

As a result, our little slice of heaven includes this unassuming looking bridge. Unassuming, that is, till you take a good look at it.
