Dolovo is an abandoned village in the municipality of Dobrinj on the island of Krk and it lies between the villages of Kras and Gostiniac. Although the site is no longer inhabited, it is still officially registered as a village community.
The village Dolovo was first mentioned in 1780 and in 1880 it had 128 inhabitants. In the decades after the inhabitants left the village and the island to search for a better life in Germany or even in America, because in these areas there was often hunger. In the census of 1974, four residents were counted. According to the 1981 census nobody lived in Dolovo anymore.
Nowadays you can see how nature reclaimed their land and grow more and more of the ruins in a dense forest. (Wikipedia)
The way to Dolovo leads over hill and dale through a dense forest with a partially heavily overgrown path. Parking either at the cemetery of Kras (Gromaca Vela is a beautiful lookout point) at position 45.1102,14.60564 or on the road from Kras to Dobrinj after the junction at position 45.11561, 14.60568 beside the road.
