Plasterdown Camp was used as a field hospital. I remember as a young lad seeing row upon row of huts, which still remained after the war. Some Today all that is remaining of the site is the road running across the area and stream/ leat.

Originally the camp was called "Plaister Down" but over time changed to Plaster Down perhaps named after the Hospital and all the plasters used within. A little dark comedy from the returning injured troops.
