"François CALLINET entretenait déjà les orgues à Eguisheim depuis 1811 (il s'agissait d'un instrument de Jean-Baptiste WALTRIN). Vers 1836, les frères Joseph et Claude-Ignace Callinet étaient au début de leur association. Le traité fut signé le 22/01/1838.
Avant le célèbre orgue Callinet, il y eut d'autres instruments à Eguisheim. Le premier date d'avant 1717 (on en ignore à peu près tout, sauf qu'il fut réparé par Daniel CRÄNER, de Ribeauvillé, en 1740).
Le deuxième orgue du lieu a été construit par Jean-Baptiste WALTRIN en 1746, dans un Buffet réalisé par KETTERER de Colmar. Jean-André SILBERMANN, jamais en reste quand il s'agissait d'insister sur les défaillances de ses concurrents, précise que cet orgue Waltrin fut reçu inachevé par Dom George FRANCK, de Munster.
Louis DUBOIS répara le Waltrin en 1761, puis ce fut Weinbert BUSSY en 1775.
Il y eut un nettoyage par Joseph ZIPFFEL en 1785.
Mais cette année-là survint un élément déterminant pour l'orgue alsacien : Joseph RABINY construisit l'orgue de Guebwiller, Notre-Dame, et s'établit à Rouffach, où son gendre François Callinet donna à son entreprise l'envergure que l'on connaît.
C'est donc Joseph Rabiny qui répara le Waltrin d'Eguisheim en 1787. Malgré une proposition d'orgue pratiquement neuf en 1809 (avec un Positif de Dos de 10 jeux !), François Callinet ne fit que réparer l'instrument en 1811.
Il faut aussi noter qu'un 1810, après le remontage de l'orgue dans la nouvel église, Joseph Rabiny fit un devis pour 4 tuyaux de Trompette qui s'étaient égarés dans le déménagement. Rabiny avait alors 78 ans, et c'est la dernière trace qu'il a laissée dans l'histoire de l'orgue.
Ce sont finalement les fils de François, Joseph et Claude-Ignace Callinet, qui, en 1839, remplacèrent l'orgue Waltrin. "

But that year came a decisive factor in the Alsatian organ: Joseph Rabiny built the organ in Guebwiller, Notre Dame, and settled in Colmar, where his son François Callinet gave his company the scale that we know.
So Joseph Rabiny who repaired the Waltrin Eguisheim in 1787. Despite an almost new organ proposal in 1809 (with a Positive Dos 10 games!), François Callinet did nothing to repair the instrument in 1811.
Note also that in 1810, after reassembling the organ in the new church, Joseph Rabiny made an estimate for 4 pipes Trumpet who had lost in the move. Rabiny was then 78 years and this is the last trace he left in the history of the organ.
In the end, the son of François Joseph and Claude-Ignace Callinet, which in 1839 replaced the organ Waltrin."
