The sewage treatment plant Beuel (German: Kläranlage Beuel) is one of a total of four Bonn sewage treatment plants. It is able to absorb and clarify the sewage of approximately 80,000 inhabitants. The capacity ranges from 9700 cubic meters in dry weather to more than 41,000 cubic meters in rainy weather. The plant includes mechanical and biological purification. The sewage sludge is pumped within a pressure pipe below the Rhine into the largest Bonn sewage treatment plant on the opposite bank of the Rhine. There the sewage sludge is treated and burnt and converted into ashes, electricity and heat in the combined heat and power plant.
