Julij Betetto (August 27, 1885 - January 14, 1963 in Ljubljana) was a Slovenian bass singer and composer. He was the first dean of the Ljubljana Academy of Music.
The bust is a work by sculptor Stojan Batic.

"He was a pillar of the Ljubljana opera and concert events. In many years of appearances he sang all the major bass roles of world opera repertoire . He has performed in operas in Vienna and Munich .

He started to sing in the choir of the Workers' Association, and was educated in the school of the Ljubljana music (in a choir, led by Matthew Hubad), later by the then leading Slovenian singing teacher, Fran Gerbicu . He made his opera debut when he 18 years old with the role of Miho in Smetanova opera The Bartered Bride . In 1905 he passed the audition for the Vienna Court Opera , but due to poor financial conditions returned to Ljubljana, where he soon earned a reputation as a soloist, to the extent that it has received a scholarship from the Austrian and even recommendations from composer and conductor Gustav Mahler . So he got a permanent engagement at the Vienna Court Opera, where he worked until 1922 and performed more than 1000 times in all major bass roles iron repertoire . In 1923 he returned to Ljubljana, where he became director of the Ljubljana Opera .

Between 1933 and 1940 he was director of the Conservatory of Ljubljana music, and when it was renamed 1939 the Academy of Music in Ljubljana bbecame its rector (today would be his title of dean ). In 1951 he received the Preseren Prize for his artistic and pedagogical work of music.

In 1954, the role of Don Bazilia in the opera The Barber of Seville on the stage of the Ljubljana Opera celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of his artistic activity."
