Canyon Sainte-Anne is a spectacular, steep-sided gorge, carved by the Sainte-Anne-du-Nord River, 6 km east of Beaupré, Quebec, Canada. The river drops over a 74 m (243 ft) waterfall within the canyon.

The Canyon receives over 100,000 visitors per year. Three suspension foot bridges cross the canyon, including one 60 m (197 ft) meters above the river. Many scenic overlooks allow families to discover giant potholes and other cascades. Rock-climbing, via ferrata (the first one installed in Canada), and rappelling the canyon walls are permitted with supervision.

Krieghoff exhibition
This belvedere is located at the same point Cornelius Krieghoff installed his easel when he painted this landscape in 1855. In this work, the falls differ slightly to the ones you see today. At the time there was a huge rock that made the top of the falls narrower.

Beginning in 1904, the Sainte-Anne-du-Nord river was used to transport timber from the forests to the new mill in Beaupré. Once the logs reached the area at the top of the falls, they would often create a jam or become damaged as they fell down the gorge. In 1917, a decision was made to help eliminate these problems by widening the top of the falls with dynamite.

A 15 kilometre man-made waterway was built in 1937. These logs no longer had to travel down the falls and would arrive in much better condition at the mill. This man-made waterway was the first of its kind to be built in Canada. It transported over 60 000 cords of wood a year. In 1965, logs no longer floated down the river and as a result of this the waterway disappeared:
