Just off the southern portion of the loop trail in Sheffield Conservation Area is this really interesting piece of geology. How did it happen that this large boulder is balancing on this smaller rock?

Sheffield Conservation Area is full of interesting geological features. About 30 metres from here are two massive side-by-side erratic boulders. Elsewhere in this wilderness you'll find crevices and rock fractures, exposed granite hilltops and cliff ringed lakes. It's a wonderful place.
