EN: The museum in the "old inn" on the village square of Simplon was opened in 1996 as a central part of the Ecomuseum. The Ecomuseum combines five museums along the old trade route over the Simplon Pass and mainly deals with the history of transit traffic and its impact on the region and its population. In addition to the trading empire of Kaspar Stockalper in the 17th century, it also includes the construction of the pass road by Napoleon, the construction of the railway tunnel and the first crossing of the Alps with an airplane by Geo Chavez. The five museums are all on the hiking trail along the Stockalper route that leads in three daily stages from Brig to Gondo. Other historic buildings and sites in this way are also documented on-site and belong to the overall concept of the museum.

The "old inn" is a building that dates back to the 14th century and was expanded at the beginning of the 17th century to an inn with stables and storerooms. The house was renovated between 1992 and 1995 and converted into a museum.

Das Ecomuseum vereint fünf Museen entlang des alten Handelsweges über den Simplonpass und beschäftigt sich vor allem mit der Geschichte des Transitverkehrs und seine Auswirkungen auf die Region und ihre Bevölkerung. Die fünf Museen liegen alle am Wanderweg entlang der Stockalperroute, der in drei Tagesetappen von Brig nach Gondo führt. Auch andere historische Gebäude und Stätten an diesem Weg sind vor Ort dokumentiert und gehören zum Gesamtkonzept des Museums.

Der "alte Gasthof" ist ein Gebäude, das aus dem 14. Jahrhundert stammt und zu Beginn des 17. Jahrhunderts zu einem Gasthof mit Ställen und Lagerräumen ausgebaut wurde. Das Haus wurde zwischen 1992 und 1995 renoviert und zu einem Museum ausgebaut. Es beherbergt auch das Touristeninformationsbüro des Ortes.
