Ivo Andric (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivo_Andri%C4%87) is probably the most distinguished Yugoslavian writer, awarded with a Nobel for Literature in 1961, mainly for his book Bridge Over the Drina but also for his Bosnian Chronicles.

The book in which this house plays an important role has been translated also with the title The Days of the Consuls or Travnik Chronicles, but its original name is "Travnicka hronika. Državni izdavacki zavod Jugoslavije".

The action takes place in the days Ottoman Empire ruled over Bosnia. By then Travnik was the capital of the region and then the consuls came. The Austrian, the French and the Russian. The story gravitates about these man and the impact they had, telling a lot about the region's politics in those days but also about the society of Travnik.

This is the house where the Austrian consul lived. Nowadays it's a private home but the ground floor is a cafe.
