Wandern Sie auf dem Planetenweg vom Deutschen Museum zum Tierpark Hellabrunn. Erleben Sie dabei die gewaltigen Entfernungen und die Winzigkeit der scheinbar riesigen Planeten. Der Planetenweg ist ein maßstäbliches Modell des Sonnensystems. Er zeigt die Größe und Entfernung der Planeten von der Sonne. Der Weg führt vom Innenhof des Deutschen Museums auf dem landschaftlich schön gelegenen Fußweg am östlichen Isarufer zum Tierpark Hellabrunn.
Alles dreht sich um die Sonne
Im Innenhof des Deutschen Museums geht es los. Hier steht die Sonnenstation mit der großen Sonnenkugel. Entlang der Stationen von Merkur, Venus, Erde, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptun gelangen Sie nach 4,5 km zur Station von Pluto am Eingang des Tierparks. (Der Planetenweg wurde 1995 eröffnet, als Pluto noch als neunter und äußerster Planet des Sonnensystems galt). Der Spaziergang dauert etwas mehr als eine Stunde.
Wandern mit 4 Milliarden km/h
Für einen Schritt auf dem Planetenweg müssten Sie im Weltall mehr als eine Million Kilometer zurücklegen. Die Größenverhältnisse und die Abstände zwischen den Planeten sind im Maßstab 1:1,29 Milliarden dargestellt. Das heißt, für einen Kilometer auf dem Planetenweg müssen im Weltall 1,29 Milliarden Kilometer zurückgelegt werden. Von der Sonne im Museumshof bis zu Pluto am Tierpark brauchen Erwachsene etwa 5900 Schritte. Ein Schritt auf dem Planetenweg entspricht dabei etwa einer Million Kilometer im Weltall.
Die Stationen zeigen mehr
Die Planetenstationen bestehen aus Dreiecks-Säulen von 2 Meter Höhe, die am Wegrand aufgestellt sind. Auf jeder Säule finden sich Informationen über den jeweiligen Planeten, das gesamte Sonnensystem und die Wegführung.

Take the Inter-planetary Walk from the Deutsches Museum to Tierpark Hellabrunn, the Munich zoo. Experience the vast distances and minuteness of the seemingly gigantic planets. The Inter-planetary Walk is a true-to-scale model of the Solar System. It shows the size and distance of the planets from the Sun. The Trail runs from the Deutsches Museum’s inner courtyard along the scenic footpath on the eastern bank of the Isar River to Tierpark Hellabrunn.
Everything revolves around the Sun
The trail starts in the inner courtyard of the Deutsches Museum. It is here that the Sun station stands with the large ball of the Sun. Following the stations of Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, you walk 4.5 km to Pluto’s station at the entrance to the zoo. (The Inter-planetary Walk was opened in 1995 at a time when Pluto was still considered the ninth and outermost planet in the Solar System) The walk takes just over an hour.
Walk at a Pace of 4 Billion km/h
For every step you take along the Inter-planetary Walk, you would have to travel more than one million kilometers in outer space. The scales and distances between the planets are represented on a scale of 1:1.29 billion. This means that a kilometer on the Inter-planetary Walk is equal to 1.29 billion kilometers in space. Adults take about 5,900 steps from the Sun in the Museum courtyard to Pluto at the zoo. One step on the Inter-planetary Walk then corresponds to around one million kilometers in outer space.
The stations are more than signposts
The planet stations by the wayside consist of triangular columns of 2 meters in height. Each column also bears information about the respective planet, the entire solar system, and trail.
