The new fountain installed at the end of shopping street Wienerstarsse in Tulln an der Donau in 1994 during the street reconstruction is called Hermes fountain (Hermesbrunnen). On its top a darkened brass statue of the Greek God Hormes is installed. It is the work of Hungarian artist Márkus Péter and the statue almost the copy of the statue installed on one of Budapest fountains - (visit link)

In Greek mythology, Hermes was the messenger of the gods. With his winged sandals, he was able to quickly move between earthly beings and the gods above. He was said to be the patron of many including: travelers, herdsmen, orators, poets, athletes, inventors and merchants. He is usually depicted with wings on his heels and carrying a caduceus.
