The existing duck pond on this location was redeveloped and expanded in about 2010 with the assistance of a 1.5 million dollar donation from the Riley family. The project installed new aeration systems, islands, walkways and viewing areas, and more than doubled the size of the pond. During the summer, the pond is typically home to mallards, wood ducks, and Canada geese.
While it is unlikely that experienced birders will find rare species here, this is a wonderful place for very young birders to easily observe birds up close.
