EN: The wayside cross at the Wendelin chapel of Möhlin is entirely made of red sandstone. The cross is unusually old, its origin is estimated to the year 1600. Another aspect not common in this area, is Christ figures are mounted on both sides. On one side, a shell of the pilgrims of the way of St James is located beneath the feet of the statue, as well as part of a donor-inscription, unfortunately the part of the inscription on the side of the cross is almost impossible to decipher. The other side has a somewhat larger statue with a skull at the bottom.

The cross stood at the crossroads near the chapel for centuries until it was damaged by a truck in the 1950s. Following the repair, the cross was re-erected under the porch of the chapel and restored in 2006/07.

DE: Das Wegkreuz bei der Wendelinskapelle von Möhlin ist ganz aus rotem Sandstein gefertigt. Das Kreuz ist ungewöhnlich alt, seine Entstehung wird ungefähr auf das Jahr 1600 geschätzt. Ebenfalls in dieser Gegend nicht üblich ist, dass auf beiden Seiten Christusfiguren angebracht sind. Auf der einen Seite befindet sich unter den Füssen der Statue eine Muschel der Jakobspilger, sowie ein Teil einer Stifter-Inschrift, der Teil der Inschrift an der Seite des Kreuzes ist leider kaum mehr zu entziffern. Die andere Seite hat eine etwas grössere Statue mit einem Schädel zu Füssen.

Das Kreuz stand jahrhundertelang an der Strassenkreuzung nahe der Kapelle, bis es um 1950 von einem Lastwagen beschädigt wurde. Nach der Reparatur wurde das Kreuz unter dem Vordach der Kapelle aufgestellt und 2006/07 restauriert.
