Tour guides are fountains of trivia for the area. As one tours the lake, the guides teaches the passengers about the local area interest and oddities. One such oddity is kudzu plant that is rumored to be the largest plant in the area. On our trip he told us that one effort to eradicate the plant revealed one plant with a six foot root base. Um, not sure on that but the area is covered with the vine. He showed us the area that parts of the movie "Dirty Dancing" were filmed. Beautiful waterfront homes are there to admire and be glad you don't have to do the upkeep.
