There are only five points of interest inscribed on this table which has been placed on the protecting wall round the front of the Mirador de San Sebastián off Rua Engenheiro Duarte Pacheco in Monchique. The mirador is on a hgh point just to the south-east of the town centre and forms the focal point of a grand landscaping scheme which includes a 'canal' with fountains and a bridge, a large gently-sloped pool, and a promenade area. There are seats, terraces for plants, and a series of stone arches and it is well signed from the centre.
Going clockwise on the compass we have Foia - the peak to the west, 902m high; Convento - the Convento de Nossa Senhora do Desterro in Monchique; Alem-teju - the next district north of the Algarve; Picota - a peak to the south-east 774m high; and Pt.Piedade, "Piety's Point" a group of rock formations along the coastline at Lagos. There are no distances given to any of the points of interest.
Location / Access: off the Rua Eng. Duarte Pacheco in Monchique, there is an underground car park directly beneath the mirador, take the fourth exit off the roundabout if coming from the centre of Monchique.
